League FAQs
Attendance:
The success of our leagues depends upon your participation. In order to have priority to return to your league in 2010, you must attend 75% of your league’s weekly schedule. Since we pay the golf course in advance of the season, there will be NO REFUNDS once it is confirmed that you have been granted a league spot. If you are unable to fulfill your league commitment, you are expected to either find a replacement for the remainder of the year or arrange for substitute players each week.
All leagues are exclusive to members of the EWGA Albany/Capital Region Chapter. A member must be in good standing with 2009 membership dues paid in full prior to registering for a league.
Unable to Play:
League members should arrange in advance for a substitute.
Call people on the substitute list for your league.
Call someone on the substitute list from another night, keeping league level in mind.
Contact your league captain in advance of play to advise her if you will be out and who your substitute will be.
Notify your league captain if you are unable to find a substitute.
Your league captain will collect your green fees reimbursement from your sub on the day of play; you must ensure that you receive your greens fee reimbursement directly from your league captain. If you did not arrange for a sub, you will not receive reimbursement.
Late Arrival:
Notify your league captain or another league member that you are going to be late.
As a last resort, contact the Pro Shop and leave word for them to notify the league captain.
Late arrivals policies vary by course, but they will try to accommodate within reason.
Inclement Weather:
Rain play and make-up policies vary by course and members will be advised of the policy at the beginning of the season.
In case of inclement weather, call the golf course after 3:30 p.m. to inquire if the course is open for league play.
Usually, if the course is open, then the league will play but we do not always adhere to this policy. Your league captain will make the decision whether league play will occur on that day. If the course is open and you do not receive a cancellation message from your league captain, you should plan to play as scheduled.
Generally, all league cancellations are rescheduled after the regular league season ends.
Pace of Play: EWGA supports Ready Golf.
All players are expected to keep up with the pace of play (maintain position) at all times. You are considered out of position when you reach the tee of a Par 3 and the group in front of you has already gone to the next tee; Par 4 and the group in front of you is on the green; Par 5 and the group in front of you is ready to hit onto the green.
Handicap Maintenance:
All EWGA members receive a handicap service enrollment included with their membership dues and are encouraged to maintain a handicap on www.ewga.com.
Code of Conduct:
All players are expected to conduct themselves appropriately on the golf course.
Players are expected to follow all local rules and rules of behavior, including Dress Code.
The Chapter reserves the right to terminate a player’s participation in the league if the Chapter determines in its sole discretion that the player has not been in compliance with the rules. If a player is terminated, her league fee is not refundable.
Substitute Players
Substitutes serve to enhance league play by allowing for a full roster of golfers during the season. Substitute players offer a way to reimburse a league member when she is unable to play and provide golfing opportunities for women who cannot commit to regular league play. Substitute golfers must be a member of the EWGA to play as a league substitute. League members should obtain a substitute for a day that she would not be able to play in her regular league. Substitutes are contacted directly by the league member, not by the league captain.
Substitutes are expected to:
Respond promptly to a request for play.
Be responsible for that day of play. If a sub has accepted a sub position for a day of play and is unable to play, she is responsible to reimburse the league member unless she can find another substitute.
Follow all of the League Policies including Code of Conduct and registering to play only leagues that match their ability.
When arriving on the day of play, notify the league captain of who you are subbing for and make payment to the league captain, who then will reimburse the league member.
